Christmas on the coast is hot, late and spent outside. A well-lit pool becomes the centre of the night if the lighting is planned with the install, not taped on in December.
We prefer LED niche lights in the shell, set so the water glows rather than glare hitting the neighbours. Warm white is the safest festive look. Colour-change LEDs are fun for a party and easy to turn down afterwards. Keep electrical work licensed, and keep decorative string lights on the patio and trees, not in the pool.
If you are building now, ask for lighting on the quote. Retrofitting is possible, but it is cleaner when the conduit goes in with the plumbing. Pair lights with a simple timer or remote so you are not wandering out in the dark to find a switch.
